The Dennis Maes Pueblo Judicial Building, named after recently retired Chief Judge C. Dennis Maes, is Colorado’s newest courthouse and is a state-of-the-art facility located in downtown Pueblo. The new five-story, 170,800-square-foot justice center has 17 courtrooms, chambers for judges and magistrates, jury assembly and deliberation rooms, a first appearance center, clerks and administrative offices, probation department offices, training rooms and holding cells.
Honorable Dennis Maes (Ret.) retired from the Pueblo District Court Bench on May 31, 2012. He served 24 years as a District Judge and 17 years as the Chief Judge. He was previously the Director of Pueblo County Legal Services, Inc., a public defender and engaged in the private practice of law. His judicial duties included presiding over behavioral health issues as well as medication hearings.
