PRIVACY POLICY
Privacy Policy
The Genealogical Society of Hispanic America, herein identified as GSHA, is committed to protecting your privacy as described below:
Collection of Personal Information
GSHA collects the following personal information from you when you join our organization: your name, address, telephone number and email address. This information is collected solely for performing normal business operations such as keeping a current list of our members, keeping you informed of GSHA benefits and events via email, shipping our Nuestras Raices journal via U.S. Mail, and mailing the newsletter via U.S. Mail to those who do not have email and through email for the rest of our members.
Use of Personal Information
If you pay through our PayPal account we do not have access to your credit card number, but PayPal does send us your name, address, phone number and email address to keep our membership list up to date. PayPal is a third party with their own privacy policies, and they share our list of members with those who sell their products, but if you, our GSHA member, do not feel comfortable with them having this information, you need only send your membership payment via U.S. Mail and not deal with this online payment method. Our membership form and mailing address are on our website at gshaa.org for your convenience.
Currently, you have a choice of receiving your quarterly Nuestras Raices journal digitally in a PDF format, or a print copy via U.S. Mail. For mailed copies, we use a distribution company who has access to our members’ names and addresses only. They cannot access your email address. They also have their own privacy policy and do not share your information with anyone, but if you feel uncomfortable with them having this information you can choose to receive a PDF copy of the journal through your email address.
When you order any of our archived journals, there is a form on our website where you mail your payment and only those who handle the mailing are privy to your name and home address. They adhere to our privacy policy to not share this information with any third parties. This handling is all internal.
GSHA does not sell, trade, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties.
GSHA does not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information such as race, religion, sexual orientation or political affiliation. GSHA does not do surveys related to product promotions outside our organization.
Although we do not disclose your personal information to any third party except as set out in this notice, we do receive data which is indirectly made up from your personal information from software services such as Google Analytics and others. No such information is identifiable as you.
Check your browser software on how to manage and disable cookies. We recommend that you allow the use of cookies for our website to take advantage of the features that rely on their use. If you prevent their use, you may not be able to use all the functionality.
GSHA may access and/or disclose your personal information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on GSHA or (b) protect and defend the right or property of GSHA including its website or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of GSHA or the public.
